The custom of raising your hand before speaking is still appropriate in today’s virtual meetings conducted via video and audio software.
In a Zoom call, you can virtually raise your hand to indicate that you have a question, a comment, or simply need to be acknowledged. How to raise your hand on zoom is one of the most common questions that hosts and participants have while using Zoom, and we even found it difficult to respond to it.

How To Raise Your Hand On Zoom On A Mac Or PC?
- 1. During a meeting, click on the icon labeled “Participants” at the bottom center of your computer or phone screen.
- 2. At the bottom of the window, click the button labeled “Raise Hand.”
- 3. Your electronic hand has been raised. Lower it by clicking the same button, now labeled “Lower Hand.”
How To Raise Your Hand On Zoom On An iPhone Or Android?
- 1. During a meeting on the Zoom iPhone or Android mobile app, click on the three horizontal dots, labeled “More”. In the bottom right corner of the screen, in the toolbar.
- 2. In the pop-up at the bottom of your screen, tap “Raise Hand.”
- 3. Your hand should be up at this point, alerting the meeting’s organizer. If you click the “Participants” icon in the menu, you will also see your hand raised next to your name & at the bottom of the screen.
- 4. When you have finished your discussion and are ready to lower your hand, go back to the “More” menu. You will notice that the text at the bottom of the menu screen has now switched to say “Lower Hand”. Click it.
